If my memory serves me correctly "Bat Out of Hell" was the biggest selling album of 1977. It was something of a sleeper at first then took off like a rocket on the back of the video for the title track and sold somewhere between 3 and 4 million copies. Personally I love the title track but that and "Dead Ringer for Love" are about the only Meat Loaf songs I can listen to.
It is not as much Meat Loaf as it is the material he has to work with not to mention the dreadful production that makes it nearly impossible for me to sit through the whole album, but yes Dead Ringer for Love is a very good track.
Well this was one of my favorite albums before I started listening to metal. And it is one of those, I'll never get tired of. Funny thing though, I find everything else he made completely crap
My sentiments exactly.
Bat out of Hell has never left the charts in some countries. It is the longest charting album ever.
