Otyg was formed in the spring of 1995. Otyg recorded their first demo
Bergtagen, and one year later their second demo I Trollskogens Drömmande
Mörker. But it wasn't until they released their third demo Galdersång Till
Berfadern that they got signed, and Napalm Records was the company to sign them.
In 1997 Otyg's first full-length album first saw the light of day, and it was
called Älvefärd. It contains 12 tracks of melodic folk metal with beautiful
Swedish lyrics about folklore and it's mystical beings, such as trolls and elves.

In 1999 the second full-length album of Otyg was recorded and released, and it got the name Sagovindars Boning. Apart from the 11 magnificent folk metal tracks this cd also includes a cover of the heavy metal anthem Holy Diver by Dio.
