This is the thread for questions on bands/artists/songs you don't think fit the format of the station and thus shouldn't be on requestable for the stream. There's no democracy as such, but feel free to propose. (and no... don't rant over bands as Slayer, Iron Maiden or any other band obviously fitting the format, just because you don't like them.)

Here's some information from the first thread:

If you hear a band that sucks on the stream, or one that you know has been removed in the past...especially mallcore bands, please post a message here and I will remove them ASAP. All I need to know is the band name and genre. For right now, I am not going to worry about poor quality mp3s and songs that skip or have long spaces at the end. I will deal with that at a different phase of the stream restoration.

Thanks!

Electric Hellfire Club

It's far from complete, I only started to note down what explicitly was labeled unsuited for SNMR not too long ago...

There are also entries in the Song Request FAQ on why certain bands (like Destruction and Dream Theater) are not available.

Hello, was directed here from another thread.

Anyhoo, Can we not purge Judas Priest - Nostradamus to only make the following tracks requestable?

-Dawn of Creation
-Prophecy
-Revelations
-War
-Sands of Time
-Pestilence and Plague
-Death
-Conquest
-Persecution
-Exiled
-Alone
-Vision
-Nostradamus
-Future of Mankind

I know this is a concept effort but there is a lot of bloat on this album that will be requested by someone out there and I don't feel like listening to all the arb song intros, no matter how good they are. They are just wasting time.

ok i am going to take on our leader mano a mano here. i know you hate dream theater and sure alot of their music is too long and too soft. but!!!!! there is also a lot of quality music in their catalog and quite frankly they rock alot harder than some other bands that are allowed to fester here on snakenet.

not to go too deep but i suggest this as a comprimise. why not let their "greatest hit" and 21 other cool songs be on the stream. most of the tracks are edited to fit in the 4 minute "song mode" and it is a nice sampleing of their career. like them or not, they are very relevant in todays "progressive metal" world.

so heres my challenge to you snake. swallow your pride just a smidge and let this one cd become requestable. even take out any tracks you may deem too long and masterbating so only the reasonable 4 minute tracks can be requested. on what grounds do i have to stand on??? none really but you cant blame a guy for trying. and dream theater is more "metal" than rush at least in their more recent releases.

at least listen to the "pull me under" version on the cd. its an excellent song minus all the wankering.

Heh...not a chance. Never gonna happen. Somewhere on this forum is my once and for all explanation of why. I'll see if I can dig it out. Short version...I tried exactly what you said and it didn't work.

I know you are surprised by that, but no. I am not. Grin

And since you mentioned them, it gives me a good excuse to post one of my favorite images. What made it all the funnier was I didn't even find this on a metal site.

Hmm, nice idea...especially those annoying Doom-tracks ALWAYS lasting at least 10 minutes and those pathetic efforts from Opeth should be cut down to the core.

Ha ha ha!! Nice one there. I disagree and agree at the same time. I don't like neither doom nor Opeth, but Snakenet is supposed to support that kind of music along with other kinds of metal. If Snake wants to keep a few bands off the stream for whatever reason it's ok fine with me, but the variation of the stream is alfa and omega.

I would much more see a few tunes by Skyclad return, both the band and Martin are important to both thrash and folk metal.

Yes, of course. I tolerate the music and the people liking it. At least it's (kind of) metal. No problem at all.
But the thing is that if people don't like Power Metal or Death Metal or whatever they mute the stream for 3-5 minutes and then they can listen to a different song. But if I mute snakenet because one (!) song from Opeth or SunnO))) or Esoteric or ... is playing, I could hear the complete "Reign In Blood" if i had it here at work... And sometimes those bands play only silent boring noise.
But there is also one advantage : If Doom is playing, I can get a coffee without missing a simple drumbeat. LOL

Yes, Skyclad are great. I have almost every album on CD! "Irrational Anthems" or "The Silent Whales Of Lunar Sea" would be nice...

Yeah Sabbat is the shit too Sign of the devil dude! And Skyclad is not DreamTheater, so I would say we have a (very small) chance to get a few tunes in the Bible.
