Well, during my show, I received word on this and it's unfortunately true. It was too hard to believe and report.

RONNIE JAMES DIO's wife/manager Wendy Dio has issued the following update regarding the health of the legendary HEAVEN & HELL/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW singer:

"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.

Thanks to all the friends and fans around the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up.

Long Live Rock and Roll, Long Live Ronnie James Dio!

The "early stage" is the silver lining. Then again, he is 65 already. But I'm sure he's got some more good years left in him. Too much talent has already been lost to that bitch called cancer. Wish Ronnie all the best and a speedy and permanent remission Sign of the devil dude!

I was going to see him on the 1st december but they cancelled the whole tour because of this.I hope for a speedy recovery as well,my father had stomach cancer and... Sad Anyway,lots of strength to Ronnie and his family Sign of the devil dude!

Since I have survived a type of cancer by having it diagnosed in its *early stages* I believe there's a good chance that Dio, being the rich bastard that he is, will be able to have the best treatment and the best doctors and come out of this fighting fit. The best we can hope for is to keep the faith that he WANTS to fight it because at the end of the day, all the medicine in the world cannot save someone who doesn't want to survive!

This morning I read about Ronnie being dead Sad They even updated wikipedia.That all changed after Wendy stated the following :

Contrary to published reports, legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) **has not** died after a six-month battle with stomach cancer.

After rumors started circulating via the Internet late Saturday that Dio had lost his cancer fight, BLABBERMOUTH.NET reached out to Ronnie's wife/manager Wendy Dio, who sent back the following message at approximately 11:35 p.m. PST on Saturday, May 15 / 2:35 a.m. EST on Sunday, May 16:

"I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing
good, but he is not dead.

"I will let you know if anything changes.

"Thank you for your concern."


That statement doesn't sound very optimistic,I hope he gets better Sad

Wendy Dio, wife/manager of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away.

"Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all.

"We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us.

"Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss.

"Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever."

Truly a sad day for music. I wish it wasn't true, but I have to accept the fact it is.

Luckily his music and legacy will forever live on and will never be forgotten.

In de VS is rockzanger Ronnie James Dio op 67-jarige leeftijd overleden. Bij hem werd in november 2009 maagkanker geconstateerd. Alle geplande optredens voor dit jaar werden daarna afgelast.

Ronnie James Dio werd als zanger bekend van de hit Love is All, geproduceerd door Deep Purple-bassist Roger Glover. Kort daarna begon hij met gitarist Ritchie Blackmore de band Rainbow.

In de jaren tachtig nam hij de plaats van Ozzy Osbourne in als zanger bij Black Sabbath en begon hij zijn eigen band Dio, waarmee hij 16 albums maakte. Vorig jaar bracht de zanger nog een album uit met een nieuwe band.
