Imagine starting the year in style. In January 2011, 40 Heavy Metal bands and 2,000 fans will go to the Caribbean to take over the luxury cruise ship "Majesty of the Seas" for a 5 day and 4 night trip of a lifetime.
Make no mistake, this is not one of the cruises where you share the ship with regular cruise guests... This is 100% Heavy Metal! Tons of onboard live shows on several in and outdoor stages, open mic nights, bars that never close, a fun-and-sun-filled day on the beautiful island of Cozumel (Mexico) and an opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's like everyone has a backstage pass!
What are you waiting for? You might even need a vacation from this vacation when all is said and done! Register now!
Smells like the vacation of a lifetime

This sounds totally fucking cool. I would consider this. 2,000 fans doesn't sound like much availability though.
Well after seeing the cost of the cabins, I can see many people not being able to go. |

Interior cabin 4 bed = 666.00$
I wonder if the shows cost extra? I wouldn't be able to go any way but I didn't see anything about charging for the concerts.

That's fucking awesome, and not too expensive considering what it is. Sadly I still don't have 600$ to toss around but I'd totally consider going otherwise. |

I remember Miha telling us about this Bopfingen. It really did sound cool - unfortunately, not something that I could fit into my schedule.
$600 for five days? It's quite reasonable if it's almost-all-inclusive I think. |

$666 (less than 500 euro) for an all-inclusive is even relatively cheap for a Caribbean cruise, especially if you factor in the cost of a large music fest, which this basically is.
quote:
All prices are per person, in US-Dollars and include the following:
- All meals in the dining rooms, restaurants, bars, and 24h room service.
- Non-carbonated, non-alcoholic beverages (i.e. tea, juices, coffee)
- Use of the ship's amenities like pools, fitness center, etc.
- Access to all concerts, shows, and performances
The only problem is the travel cost to and from Miami. Say a European couple who want to have their own cabin are looking at about $1,300 - $1,500 (900 - 1100 euro) per person, booze not included, for a week's vacation.
Probably going to be a boat-load of mostly middle-aged metallers

The distance would be the problem for the Europeans, I agree. It's hardly worth the jetlag for five days + costs.
Now all we need is the same theory, but departing from a European port... |

For me it's affordable. Really not too expensive and could be very interesting if there are more interesting bands. Because besides Amon Amarth and Sodom, I wouldn't give any one buck to see the other bands.
Uli roth will make his usual guitar solo like 30 years ago |

I might go if bands like Amon Amarth and Trouble played solely outside, while bands like Epica, Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius fagged around inside. Still, without even knowing who the last 32 bands are going to be, SA and Stratovarius pack enough male-on-male butt passion to scare me away.
Then again, you put actual extreme metal bands on a boat for 5 days and some one is either going to jump off or sink the fucking ship |

Most likely
Maybe we'll see specialized cruises in a few years. 70,000 Tons Of Death/Thrash would be worth considering for me *ggg*

Ahaha, yeah I read about this a while ago, sounds like an amazing idea, but probably something I can not afford. I suppose I could drive to Miami to make it a bit cheaper, but seriously fuck that. And yeah, 2,000 waste metalheads together with another couple dozen wasted metal bands....somebody is going overboard, hahaha. Or getting left in Mexico |

Nothing wrong with middle aged metal heads! I would really like to go that is for sure. If they did something similar from Europe it would be ultra cool also because the price is fair. |

We have the Baltic Sea in the summer where the climate is mild and pleasant AND a lot of metal bands who lives close by AND a lot of cool big cities that can be visited en route to make it even more interesting. WOW! Maybe this is something that could actually be done?!? |

We need to tell it to the Wacken organizers. They're good at expanding their business model. |

Actually a few years back there was something like that in Europe.
There was a some kind of metal cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki and back ... not exactly carribean tho, but it was a metal boat cruise

There is quite a lot better bands from the countries near the Baltic than the Mediterranean

It is true that Silja Line has done something like that but not in nearly the same scale. Still it is a starting point

Just a reminder; We are NOT sold out. ONLY Cat. I is gone. All other categories still available. The closer you get to I, the closer you get to the bands! Book your cabin before the best suites are all gone! |
