Just in support to Joris, the following albums from his list could just as well have been on mine and is recommend by me as well Smile

3. Manilla Road - Mystification
4. Psychotic Waltz - A Social Grace
9. Crimson Glory - Crimson Glory
11. Omen - Battle Cry
12. Cirith Ungol - King Of The Dead
13. Anathema - A Fine Day To Exit
16. Hammers Of Misfortune - The Locust Years

I've heard a few. A Fine Day to Exit would be on my top 50 I'm sure. Judgement made my top 25. I've also heard Hobb's Angel of Death, Manilla Road, Bulldozer and Hammers of Misfortune. None enough to be familiar enough to put them on a top 25 list though.

*edit: I listed Manilla Road twice in my list.

Just didn't make the cut. "Only Human" would probably in the top 30, together with "The Black Halo", "Condition Red" and "Rabbit Don't Come Easy" ... seems like power metal in general didn't make the cut Grin

I know what you mean - My Top 25 doesn't cover any pm apart from Guardian - I just declared it as stuff I don't listen to in the other thread. Dunno why. Maybe I have heard too much of it already... Rasping Goatee

I've tried, believe me I've tried, but there's just absolutely no way I can condense 40 years of listening to hard rock/heavy metal into just 25 albums. So as a sort of compromise, and because I do want to contribute to this worthy thread, this is a list of the 25 albums that I've played most on my i-POD over the last 3 years or so. I've restricted the list to one album per band (Otherwise there would have been 5 Budgie albums on it Wink) and the order is from most played on down.

1. Black Sabbath - Master of Puppets
2. Budgie - In for the Kill
3. Metallica - Master of Puppets
4. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
5. Judas Priest - Painkiller
6. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
7. Motorhead - Orgasmatron
8. Dio - Holly Diver (R.I.P. Ronnie)
9. W.A.S.P. - The Headless Children
10. Megadeth - Count to Extinction
11. Nevermore - Dead Heart in a Dead World
12. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
13. Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz
14. Danzig - Danzig II - Lucifuge
15. Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law
16. Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror
17. Cirith Ungol - King Of The Dead
18. Angel Witch - Angel Witch
19. Anthrax - Spreading the Disease
20. Hammers of Misfortune - The Locust Years
21. Helstar - Nosferatu
22. Skid Row - Slave to the Grind
23. Sortilege - Larmes de Heros
24. Therion - Sirius B
25. Pantera - Cowboys from Hell

So, while these are by no means my 25 favourite albums they are albums I listen to alot. Sign of the devil dude!

I couldn't agree more, all the lists posted so far are excellent and just confirm the fact that we all have great taste in metal here on SNMR. There are quite a few albums here that I'm going to have to track down for my collection. Sign of the devil dude!

Actually this thread has given me an idea for a sort of companion thread. More shortly. Grin

It's funny how few albums appear more than one time in several people's top 25. Just shows to go how diverse metal is and how many great albums within it there are.

It is, isn't it. I keep trying to narrow it down, even to 30 and i just can't do it. Every time someone else posts I'm like "yeah, that's a bad ass album" and then I have to start over.

I am hoping to at least come up with a list of albums I like the hell out of. I can't even pick favorite flavors of Popsicle, so I'm pretty worthless.

That was one goal of my post - however I never dreamed favourites would render themselves so quickly Smile It shows (and will continue to show) what the best records in fucking metal history are - coz if it's not us who's got THE taste for metal ... well, who else will it be?

Only half of my favs would be metal if I included all the others. Particularly the movie scores would have filled that list up good^^
