Ghast
Welsh band playing an interesting and excellent mix of raw, acidic black metal and sludgy, crushing doom. Released a strong debut full-length in 2008 with "May The Curse Bind" that comes highly recommended. Definitely a band to watch.

They had a major stylistic shift. Their old stuff is Deicide worship. Never really stuck with me for whatever reason, but I think I may revisit.

All very good albums and highly recommended, particularly "Myrmidon" by Wrnlrd. I rated that one highly enough to include it in my top 20 of 2009.

SHRINEBUILDER
A whole host of awesome, with members from Neurosis, Saint Vitus, Om, Sleep, Melvins, this is some pretty awesome psychadelic/doomy/stoner sex in my ears! Had I discovered their self-titled album earlier, I would have certainly put it in my top 20 of 2009 list. Recommended to all.
Ufomammut

Some more extra strength heavy for those of you with the balls enough to take it
Grails
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAnbR2a2IxA
Something a little more peaceful, though still suprisingly lively with Grails. Interesting mix of eastern sounding instuments and slidey guitar work. Seeing these guys live soon |

The danish band, Third Eye are awesome. Their first album is out 21. of May 2010. They got some nice reviews. It is prog metal, with power and technically. The vocals is legendary.. im just impressed.

This is really a great album, some great songs, none of them will ever reach Ten Thousand Strong though, but still very enjoyable.
Can't tell you how many times thats happened to me. Sometimes the best stuff requires a good couple listens before it sinks into a fair verdict.

The first time such a thing happened to me was Metallica's "...and justice for all". I knew "Kill 'em all" and "Ride The Lightning" before and liked them a lot, so I bought new new album shortly after its release without giving it a listen first. As Wintersun I spun it once and then had it sitting on my shelf for an awful lot of time. Dunno why, but after giving it another chance it became one of my alltime favourites. |

Manilla Road
I knew about them for, like 10 years, but always thought they were some kind of a flower power metal band. Recently, I've downloaded a couple of their albums and boy, was I mistaken. These guys fuckin' rock. I don't get it how they never achieved the success and recognition they deserved. |
