About what happened last week-end:

quote:
Statement by the Wacken Organizers regarding the hacker attack on Sunday, 17th January 2010
19-01-10 12:09 - Age: 2 min - By: WackenHelge

This Sunday afternoon, our website fell prey to a hacker attack. The security lack has been fixed immediately so the site was only offline for a short time.

No personal customer data has been affected by the attack because they are stored on another server. After checking the logfiles by our development department we didn´t find any clue that the lack has been made use of before.

This security lack only existed for a short time because a fix that had already been brought into coincidence was not copied to the second server.
We reserve our right for taking legal steps in the case of such actions – nevertheless we place part of the blame on ourselves and so we abstain from taking further legal steps in this particular case.

Even if the hacker wanted to point a security lack out - hacking a website is still an unlawful act resp. a crime. We would have wished that we had been informed about this lack of security directly by this person instead of hacking our website resp. making it public in the way it happened.

Yeah, right, cause it's always just the most recent fix that caused the security to screw itself over Wink

in the forum the hacker himself posted that some sort of this lack existed since last year.. then he wrote a mail and was ignored thats his version why he made it public

Basically they're saying "Could he not have told us in private, rather than embarrass us publicly."

I don't think it's particularly bad. This "hacker" got mental stimulation (and lulz, I'm sure) out of it, and the Wacken organisers have learnt of their security flaw. It's a WIN/WIN situation - besides the embarrassment Grin

Yeah that last sentence was pretty funny. "Man, I really wish you hadn't let anybody know. Gosh what a bummer" Grinning Goatee Yeah, why don't they just say "thank you" like normal people, instead of being like "we really really really wish you hadn't done that", and then turning around and saying "but we're not going to do anything about it." ^^ Silly Wacken webmasters

The poll didn't work for me when it was open. At least there was no feedback on submit like the usual "thanks for your contribution". Didn't work with Firefox or IE Sad

For a Wacken with such an awesome fucking line-up, these tickets sure aren't selling as fast as last year's tickets did.

Last year it was announced new years evening that it was sold out. I expected it to be sold out before new year again. Especially after the confirmation of Iron Maiden and Slayer.

But with the amount of people grumbling about how it's too big, too commercial or they're simply not pleased with previous lineups or the metalcore additions, then I think that Summer Breeze and such festivals are getting more customers.
