Dear friends,

Some time ago Wacken sent out a mail telling us that they had been hacked.

And it's true!!

Do yourself a favour and control your accounts.
I've lost (but it will be covered) more than 2000 Euro on my Visa account, my friends have had their Mastercard info misused as well for more than 1200 Euro.

If you experience that your info has been misused, contact your credit card company/bank. Also send a mail to Metaltix, they have turned the case over to the police in Germany and the more info they can get on the theft the better.

Here's the reply from Metaltix:

Hi Lars,
thanks for the offer of more details. If the public prosecutor's office Flensburg, where we placed our complaint, needs more information they will ask you for it. Please ask your bank / credit card company if it is possible to post the money back, show them our security warning, sometimes that helps.

Yep, and Clint just got off the phone with his bank, fraudulous use of our card too... Mad
Luckily they blocked all the transactions. We need to get a new card, but that's a lesser evil than the 1500€ of weird transactions they blocked.

I'm just about to phone the bank and get them to send me a new card. Apparently this is widespread, and I'd rather a little hassle than the losing the money that other people are.

At least you guys managed to block the transactions. I'm 130 € down due to the fact that I didn't notice it in time. I hope they'll do something about it, but somehow I doubt it.

Does not matter if it was hacked back then. It is hacked now and since you ordered early there is a risk that your card might be compromised. I would get a new Visa and check my account if I where you.

My account was hacked as well... I didn't notice that some money had gone missing, because I got some surplus tax back at the same time, but they have sucked around 500 Euro from me. I've just called my bank and had the card closed.

In my case they already automatically blocked the card since they thought some transactions where suspicious. So no real damage done.

My account was left unharmed... Phew! The bank said that it could be because I have a MasterCard with no credit on it. Anyway I had my card closed and had to withdraw every dime so I won't run out of cash :S

I'm more pissed at Wacken/Metaltix. Their website was vandalised a few months ago by a person who was saying "Look, your website is really insecure" and then their (infinitely more important) database of credit card details was also compromised. They make literally millions of ticket sales (I estimate around 10 million euros) and I would expect them to invest in security for the good people who give them that money. Not to mention that, by law, they are required to keep our data secure and private.

Of course the people who did this are scum, too! =/
